Lets begin the annual, end of the year countdown extravaganza, by listing the most annoying songs on the radio this past year. You might say this list could be easily put together because most of the songs on the radio are pretty drab. However, most of those songs, I can tolerate. These on the other hand, made me immediately change the station.

I said I wouldn't do a list like this again, but do to popular demand, here are the Most Annoying Songs on the Radio of the year 2010:

8) Richard Vission & Static Revenger Starring Luciano - I Like That
I'm sorry to admit this, because I love dance music, and I liked Luciano's other outings... this however, I can't get into. I guess the good thing is that since this song is on the radio, it will open doors for other, better electronic dance records.

7) Ke$ha - We R Who We R
This song is "dumb, dumb, dubuduh, dumb." Seriously Ke$ha? Let's repeat the last word in every line 10 times.

6) LMFAO feat Lil John - Shots
It goes, "Shots Shots Shots." I don't know how many times "shots" is repeated.

5) Owl City - Peppermint Winter
He has a unique voice, too bad I do not like it at all.

4) Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are
Not only is this song overplayed, but I seriously can not stand this song at all. Maybe I'm not a teenage girl. Yes, that's probably it.

3) Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah
Ke$ha just has the most amazing lyrics to work with... oddly, it's these lyrics that's making her famous. She's still lucky she's attractive.

2) Owl City - Fireflies
This band has good music, but I still can not stand this guy's voice. Girls like this stuff? Seriously? Ke$ha, I can understand, but this?

1) The Black Eyed Peas - The Time
Oh... what would a list be without the Black Eyed Peas? I was getting worried that they wouldn't be on the list this year, then they decide to drop this gem of a song. I actually like the beats... but covering a classic 80s tune and puking all over it... shame...

If you're a music producer or thinking of being one, here are the top 5 music software that you should know. Well, you don't have to know all of them, but it wouldn't hurt. Now you might say that prices aren't that bad, since Photoshop itself is around $700. However, once you add on plug-ins, instruments and audio interfaces, these prices can get pretty steep.

5) Sony's Acid Pro
Acid Pro is a pretty straight forward music creation software. The best feature is it's relatively easy time stretching capabilities (where you just drag and stretch the track that needs to be stretched) as compared to other programs. Sony also holds remix contests all the time on their Acid Planet website, although you don't need to use Acid pro to do those remixes.

4) Propellerheads' Reason
Great music software that enables you to create almost anything. It is basically a virtual emulation of a music studio, set with a rack system of synthesizers and samplers. So if you're used to working in a music studio and want all that equipment in one giant software, Reason is the package for you.

3) Apple's Logic Studio
Apple's Logic Pro has recently become a big player in the music industry by adding many dynamics to it, thus, directly competing with Pro Tools. Being Garage Band's big, big, brother, Logic isn't a really pick up and go kind of software, but once you know how it works, it can do a lot for you.

2) Ableton Live
This is the huge music software for electronic musicians and DJ's. If you haven't taken this for a spin yet, Ableton Live is similar to Sony's Acid Pro, in that you can produce music. However, you can also play live sets from the music you create.

1) Digidesign Pro Tools
Well, no surprise here. The most widely used music software in the industry as well as the film industry. It is pretty much the standard. Even though music software like Ableton Live and Reason may be easier to create sounds and loops, Pro Tools is the ultimate destination to mix all those sounds you created.

The Most Annoying Songs on the Radio, Spring 2010

I honestly thought I wasn't gonna do another list of annoying songs because, well... it became too easy and too negative (I could practically just turn on the radio and list the next 20 songs played). There are a lot of songs that I don't like, that sound like every other song on the radio. I figured I've outgrown this pop-radio machine-label-warranted mess (But kids today love this stuff so that's who these songs are made for).

However... I have heard a few songs recently which really irked my fashion. Songs that stand out so far in the realm of annoying that I decided I had to make another list. Here are the most annoying songs on the radio of spring 2010.

5) We Are The World Remake
It goes: "We are the World, We are the Children."
I am going to get a lot of flack for this one... I actually thought twice, no... three times, about putting this on here. I have nothing against helping other people (in fact go to World25.org to donate) but come on... even Jay-Z believes the same thing. There were cool parts, like leaving Michael Jackson in. However, the whole forced-rap-section just-to-be-trendy, is very out of place. Also, still using Autotune on a couple of artists, really? That is sooo two years ago.

4) Black Eye Peas - Imma Be
It goes: "Imma Be, Imma Be, Imma Be."
These guys seem too make a lot of my lists, how exciting for them. Umm... I think there are only two words in this song. Imma Be, Imma Be, Imma be turning the station. Imma Be, Imma Be, Imma be listening to my CD. Imma Be, Imma Be, Imma be listening to my iPod.

4) LMFAO - Shots
It goes: "Shots, shots, shots, shots."
I got an idea. Let's make a song about all the different kind of shots we throw down and how it makes girls panties fall to the floor. And let's put it to an annoying track. Hey, how bout we shoot a music video featuring girls in bikinis and we'll give them shots, getting them all drunk and hammered. Awesome, let's shoot it in Vegas.

2) Owl City - Fireflies
It goes: "something about planet earth and fireflies."
Look at me I have a sensitive side, and I sound like The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie. Ooh, the girls will love me because I'm sensitive.
Just so you know, I do like the Postal Service, but can't say the same for the later. This song just makes me want to punch someone. Yes it hits that annoying nerve, that makes my arm start swing.

1) Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah
It goes: take one guess...
I can't believe I wasted the time to include the $ sign in her name. Scientists say that after listening to this song you'll lose brain cells. I rather take a swig of alcohol. Seriously, this is one of those times where I'd say "this is what the kids are listening to these days?" The worst part of the song is it's über catchy pop annoyance.

So, I was driving around the city one day, without listening to my CDs or Pandora. What I noticed was that radio stations played the same songs over and over again... which is not really a surprise. However, what really got me, was that they played these top songs almost every time I got in the car and turned on the radio. So I decided to keep track of how many times I'd hear those lovely songs during the day. And I also decided to come up with this list of the Most Overplayed Songs currently on the radio, or the 10 Most Overplayed Songs on the Radio, Winter 2010.

10) Phoenix - 1901
It goes: Fold it, Fold it, Fold it. For some reason I thought it was "Fallin, Fallin, Fallin"
I actually still like this song. However, it's getting on the cusp of "having to change the station because I've heard it too much" syndrome.

9) Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem - Forever
It goes: I want this sh*t forever mine, ever mine, ever mine.... with some auto-tune on that.
Even though this song came out last year, I've been hearing this song a whole lot recently.

8) Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
It goes: I'm so 3008, you're so 2000 and late.
This is the first of three Black Eyed Peas songs on here, just so you know.

7) David Guetta featuring Akon - Sexy Bitch
It goes: Damn girl, Damn, you a sexy bitch! --- gotta love lyrics like this.
It's a very beaty and mainstream dance-floor song. However, there are a lot of other songs out there like this that could be played too. Although, I'd take this over any LMFAO song.

6) Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
It goes: I gotta feeling, that tonight's gonna be a good, good night.
I'm sure you've heard this song by now, it's actually the same producer as number seven.

5) Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind
It goes: New York, these streets will make you feel brand new.
The first week this song was released on the radio last year, it was already overplayed. I liked it, but rapid over-exposure quickly burdened my ears. It doesn't help that it is a genre crossover that can gain a bigger audience.

4) Iyaz - Replay
It goes: Shorty... something something.
I don't think I've actually heard the rest of the song.

3) Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
It goes: Can you meet me halfway, right at the borderline?
All I know, for having three songs on this list, the Black Eyed Peas must be making a whole lotta money.

2) Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
It goes: I want your love, and I want your revenge, you and me could write a bad romance.
A catchy song, that managed to catch it self near the top of the overplayed list. I liked this song in the beginning. Now, it's getting to that point that I can't hear it anymore. It's fun, it's poppy, it is what it is.

1) Ke$ha - Tik Tok
It goes: Don't stop, make it pop, DJ blown my speakers up
Oh gawd, it's catchy. And seriously, this song is played almost every single time I step into the car. I heard it on the radio probably about 12 times that day I decided to make this list. My ears are drowned.

6 Memorable Kanye Outbursts

Oh, that Kanye. As you all probably know by now, Kanye West's latest outburst at the 2009 Video Music Awards wasn't his only one. In fact, his infamous tirades has become just as popular as the music he makes. It all could be one giant PR push, especially since MTV has gone to the gutter and needs all the noise it can muster. However, bad publicity can only take you so far, before it starts blowing up in your face. The boys over at South Park even devoted an entire episode to the Kanye West antics.

In my decision to compile a list of the top Kanye outbursts I realized that there were much more than I initially thought there were. So unfortunately I left some out (like his walking out of the 2004 American Music Awards because he "was the best artist of the year" didn't win) and just rounded out the top 6:

6) 2008 Bonnaroo. Kanye West got booed at Bonnaroo 2008 for coming on at 4:30 in the morning (yes, 4:30 in the morning) and delivering a mediocre set. Kanye went off on the Bonnaroo organizers. I still can't find a decent video that depicted the whole event, but here you go. Click Here for more.

5) 2008 Los Angeles International Airport. I don't care much for the paparazzi either, but apparently neither does Kanye.

4) 2005 Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief. "Bush doesn't care about black people." oh man... Just look at Mike Meyer's reaction and the abrupt cut to Chris Tucker. Awkward... awkward moment.

3) 2007 MTV Video Awards. Kanye loses after receiving 5 nominations. Also apparently pissed about not opening the show because of Britney Spears' come back.

2) 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye gets on stage and disses Taylor Swift's best music video win. This isn't downright profane as his others, but the fact he just decided to share his opinion on live television while in someone else's moment, is pretty self indulgent.

1) 2006 European MTV Music Awards. The first time I've seen one of Kanye's outburts. "Hell, no... my video cost a million dollars and had Pamela Anderson in it."

Now we can all imagine what tirades Kanye West will produce for us in the times to come.

10 Most Annoying Songs On The Radio, Summer 2009

It's Summer, and I actually thought it would be hard to find ten more songs on the radio that are annoying. However, here we are and I have found them. So without further adieu, here are the songs on the radio that make me want to change the station or listen to my iPod.

10) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
What? I'm sure a lot of you indie fans are pissed off. But let me state that I did like the song when I first heard it. However, I got tired of it quickly because every time she hits the note during the line "you're zero... hero... to go" it just bugs the hell out of me.

9) Britney Spears - If You Seek Amy
This is one of those songs they stuck through a machine. However, it is way too catchy and by the time you want to change the station you've already listened to the entire song.

8) Jeremih - Birthday Sex
This song is actually quite funny.

7) Jamie Foxx - Blame it
What I don't understand, and I know that it is the hot thing to do in pop music these days, but Jamie Foxx can actually sing... So really, does he need to use auto-tune to effect his voice?

6) Flo Rida - Sugar
I actually like parts of the song. However, the part I don't like is the sample of that annoying Blue song from Eiffel 65. It's a risk, but a risk I wish they left out.

5) Kristina DeBarge - Goodbye
Umm... Am I at a sporting event or something? Goes "na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye." really?

4) Plain White T's - 1 2 3 4
Oh man... I'm too old for this..

3) The Veronicas - Take Me on the Floor
I guess I'm not a teenage girl.

2) Black Eye Peas - I Gotta Feeling
This song actually starts off great; good melody and nice basslines. This is all thanks to the teaming up with French producer David Guetta (What? Cool... I know). However, once the rap vocals enter, it sounds like a totally different song... not in a good way. It only gets worse in the bridge when they echo every last word as if it's supposed to be cool. Guetta's own remix is better as it only leaves in the good parts.

1) Glee Cast - Don't Stop Believing
I actually have not heard this on the radio yet. Hopefully it wont come to it. I've seen the TV commercial for that TV show and it made me change the station and not ever want to see the show. Thanks for ruining a classic Journey song.

The Best Music Festivals in Southern California

Since I currently reside from that area, I decided why not make a list of the best music festivals in Los Angeles and it's surrounding areas. Let's just make it the best music festivals in Southern California. So if you are planning to come down here, or head on up here for that matter, here is a list of the biggest, and best music festivals in Southern California. NAMM (January)
Anaheim, CA

NAMM is not much of a music festival but more of a music exhibitors expo, sort to speak, about all the current and upcoming technological advances in the music industry. Lots of music industry insiders attend this event.

Coachella (April)

If you haven't heard of Coachella by now, and you live in Southern California, "How dare you." It's the biggest music festival this side of the Mississippi, and some might even say its the biggest in the entire nation.

Stagecoach (April)

A huge country music festival that happens the weekend after Coachella, since it is put on by the same promoter, Goldenvoice.

Lightning in a Bottle (May)
Lighting in a Bottle Website.
Happening over a couple of days this is like a smaller Burning Man, still with a lot of people.

Electric Daisy Carnival (June... moved to Las Vegas.)

Electric Daisy Carnival is a big eletronic music event that is held annually and features some of the biggest in dance music. They also have carnival rides, hence the name carnival.

HARD Summer (August)

New promoter HARD (I still don't know if that stands for anything), has recently been on a roll thanks to booking artists like Justice, MSTRKRFT, and Boys Noize. So if you're into that style of music, then you'll like HARD events.

Sunset Junction (August)

Sunset Junction is a street fair that has become popular over the years as they shut down parts of Sunset Blvd for this event. They have also booked bands like the Black Keys and Cold War Kids to perform.

Street Scene (September)
San Diego, CA

Probably the biggest rock music festival in Southern California next to Coachella. Street Scene boasts a great line up, and remains as a fast growing music festival.

Nocturnal Festival (September)

Another huge electronic dance music festival.

LA Weekly Detour (October)

This is a mini-Coachella music festival happening in downtown Los Angeles. Although, they are currently on hiatus?

Monster Massive (October)

Another huge electronic dance music festival. Yet this one happens around Halloween so people are likely to dress up in costumes. ooohh!

HARD Haunted Mansion (October)

HARD's other big music event happens on or around Halloween.

Together As One (New Year's Eve)

Another big electronic dance music festival. This time you can ring in the new year with thousands of party goers.

A 21 and over event that features mainly electronic dance music. Although one year I saw The Killers there, but they haven't really had bands since. It's still a good bet if you want to party down with the 21 and over crowd for the New Year's celebration.

Top 10 Most Overplayed Bands on the Radio

Being an overplayed band on the radio can be a good or bad thing depending on who you are: if you are the listener, then it will certainly pinch your nerves, but if you're the band, on the other hand, it means you are probably making a lot of money. I rarely listen to the radio any more since the radio stations play the same bands and the same songs around the clock. I do like some of the bands listed, but seriously, they have been driven to death (or their songs have been). Here is a list of the 10 most overplayed bands on the radio:

10) Sublime
They were great back in the day, and it would be nice to hear them every once in a while. However, radio stations play the same 3 songs from the same album over and over again.

9) Coldplay
How many times are they gonna keep playing Viva La Vida? And I still hear Yellow quite a bit, also. I like Coldplay, but the radio could have more variation with their songs, since they do have a huge library to choose from.

8) Linkin Park
That damn Transformers song is still in heavy rotation and it's two years old. Don't tell me Linkin Park will also be on the Transformers 2 soundtrack (with the same song), just so radio can lengthen the life of that song even further.

7) Incubus
The radio does play a lot of their earlier works (which I am more accustomed to), as well as their newer releases (which can get old really fast).

6) Weezer
Another band in which I liked their earlier sounds better. However, Weezer's new songs get so much heavy rotation, that I have to immediately change the station.

5) The Offspring
Where have these guys been? I'm not familiar with their new releases, and I am always surprised to hear a new Offspring song on the radio. However, I soon come to realize that they play these new songs a lot more than I prefer.

4) Foo Fighters
I like the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl is awesome. Unfortunately, the radio plays their songs over and over again, and then one more time, just to be sure. However, I do find myself singing along.

3) Green Day
Hrm... I think Green Day is overplayed almost anywhere.

2) Red Hot Chili Peppers
Yes, the Chili Peppers. Maybe it's just California, but I hear this band being played after every other song on the radio. "It's Californiacation."

Drum roll please...

1) Nirvana
I'm sorry to put Dave Grohl twice on this list, but Nirvana is still overplayed. They were a great and influential band... in the 90s. But come on, I hear Nirvana every 5 minutes on the radio, as if they are still the number one band today.

The Love Parade is one of the biggest gatherings of people, with up to a million people attending in certain years. Originating in Berlin, the Love Parade features floats with different DJs and artists (mobile clubs, if you will) all meeting up at a finale location, where those top DJs trade off half-hour sets. Note that the Love Parade has been cancelled every random year because the aquiring of permits have been getting tougher. However, the promoters are always pushing to get it going again. So always check their website to see if it is on again.

Rothbury is a 4 day jam band type of festival that started in 2008. And it was regarded as a success with well over 30 thousand people in attendance. So check out for a return in 2009 and beyond.

T in the Park is perhaps the biggest music festival in Scotland, and has grown a lot over the years. They have featured artists like the Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Coldplay and many more.

Unfortuately, like the Love Parade in Germany, Lollapalooza has been cancelled in some of its years, but instead due to declining sales. Over the past few years, however, they have made a come back and is stronger than ever, acquiring artists like Kanye West, Depeche Mode, Muse and many more.

Put on by the people behind Coachella, they coined All Points West, "Coachella East," as it debuted in 2008. While bringing acts like Radiohead and Jack Johnson, it is still yet to be determined if "Coachella East" will become an annual festival. So lookout for an announcement soon.

Austin City Limits is another big festival in the United States that is growing in popularity and is coming to rival Coachella and Bonnaroo. Austin seems like a damn cool city.

CMJ is a music and film festival that is a great place for independent artists and bands that want to get noticed by industry professionals. Indie bands from all over the world play in the coolest clubs the city has to offer.

Happening over Halloween weekend, Vegoose made for an extremely fun destination. However, despite bringing artists like Tom Petty, Rage Against the Machine and Daft Punk in the years past, Vegoose was cancelled in 2008. There were a lot of good songs to choose from. It was hard to differentiate as to which song is better when compiling a list like this. But overall, I think the top ten were the stand out tracks of the year. And yes I'm including Radiohead, as you will notice, even though the album came out last year (it came out in that grey area late last year, which could be considered for this year anyway, like it is for the Grammys).
