Coachella 2014 Rumors

Here we go... The 2013 Coachella season has come to a close.  There was no throwback hologram or Daft Punk (but we got a surprise visit from R. Kelly). Coachella 2014 is about a year away, and since early bird passes have just gone on sale, what better way to waste time and stir up the Coachella 2014 rumor pot.

So what are the rumors?

Daft Punk
Well of course... Heavily rumored to play in 2013, but didn't. So another go around for 2014.

The Rolling Stones
Rumor had it Coachella was close to signing them for 2013, but didn't or couldn't... so maybe 2014? If their current tour isn't their last.

David Bowie
Another dream get for Goldenvoice... though I think Bowie's stated he doesn't tour anymore.

The Smiths
Offered $5 million a few years back, but turned it down. Also, Morrissey's vegetarian ways might get in the way; in a 2009 performance he walked off stage due to the smell of BBQ.  Though Coachella has offered to have a vegetarian Coachella.  Also, he's been getting sick a lot lately.

Coachella 2014 Dates Announced, Presale This Friday!

Just when your taking your breath from Coachella 2013, Goldenvoice just announced their dates for the 2014 Coachella season: April 11th - 13th and April 18th to 20th.  Also, Advance sale starts Friday, May 24th at 10 am PDT.  This is the only time you can take advantage of the payment plan.

Coachella 2013 does the Harlem Shake

So, Baauer played at Coachella this past weekend, and well, it was inevitable that he'd play his Harlem Shake song... and the Sahara Tent went off.  Here is a clip...

It's Official, No Daft Punk at Coachella 2013?

So, those Daft Punk rumors at Coachella 2013 may finally be laid to rest as a rep for the French duo told Rolling Stone magazine, "Daft Punk is not playing at Coachella this year."

There you have it, folks... No Daft Punk this year... we can always hope for next year.

On the bright side, their new album is scheduled to debut on May 20 or 21, depending on where you live.

Are VIP passes to Coachella worth it?

Coachella 2013 has Sold Out!

So Coachella 2013 has sold out for General Admission and VIP.  The first weekend sold out in 15 minutes (mainly because of advance sales last year) and the second weekend sold out in about 21 hours.  It's not a record (2012 sold out in 4 hours), but it's still pretty impressive.

So, a shot out goes to the person who voted that it will take 1 Day to sell out (in the recent poll I conducted).

Now, it's not totally sold out mind you. (though you need to want to spend some serious dough)  As of this posting there are still Lake Eldorado Passes and Safari Tent passes available which will run you anywhere from $2,000 to $6,500 for two of you.

Coachella 2013 Rumored Add-Ons

So, you look at the line up and think to yourself where the hell is so and so? Also the fact that there isn't a big Electronic Dance Music Act this year (something that Goldenvoice prides itself on). And well, the fact that (although I like them) Phoenix is headlining (possibly co-headliner in the works?). I have the feeling there are going to be some big add-ons, especially since history tells us that some of the late add-ons were Prince, Madonna, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and M.I.A.. Though I have the feeling, that hoping for anything huge (like David Bowie) would be out of the question.

Of course I'm putting this here because Daft Punk fans are crazy here. They were late add's before and could see them alongside Phoenix as co headliners.  New album supposedly drops this Spring.
update: Daft Punk's rep recently told Rolling Stone"Daft Punk is not performing at Coachella this year."

They're back this year after a long hiatus... and there have been many rumors that they'll play Coachella this year.

April is wide open... and they're literally the closest band to Coachella by distance.

Most of April is open. Though he plays in Socal on April 5th... He's open from the 7th till the 26th... and his April 5th and 6th show are the only shows in the States so far.

Had a huge 2012, seems like Coachella would pick him up.

It's Official, Coachella 2013 Line Up Finally Announced!

It's about damn time!

Headliners include Blur, The Stone Roses, Phoenix, and Red Hot Chili Peppers...

Absent from the list... the heavily rumored The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Daft Punk... probably the reason why it took so long for the Line Up to be released.

Why Hasn't the Coachella 2013 Line Up Been Released Yet?

Dont ask me. I don't know...

Seriously, it could be a number of reasons, even though over the years the Line Up has been released earlier and earlier in January.  We can already put together an educated guesstimate of a lot of the artists that are playing Coachella due to their touring schedule now being released.

I have the feeling that the Line Up was supposed to be released a week ago, but talks broke down for a certain headliner (or headliners)... and to note, it was recently confirmed (at least through the internet) that the big rumored headliner, The Rolling Stones, aren't gonna play at Coachella.

or...

It could be a major marketing buzz to get everyone overhyped and ready to crash the box office's servers when passes become available.

So...

What does this mean?

Absolutely nothing.
Just hold on to your pants for a bit more... because the anticipation is killing everyone not just you.

Coachella finally posted something in this time of Line Up announcement chaos a short film called Bloom,  directed by Patrick Jean.  It's pretty cool actually... and should get you pumped up of about Coachella.

No David Bowie for Coachella 2013?

With a new song dropping out of the blue and a new album debuting, many of us jumped to the idea of David Bowie headlining Coachella.  But as quickly as that rumor shot up, comes this rather unsatisfying news... In an interview with NME, Bowie's producer Tony Visconti said about the tracks off of the new album: 

"He’s fairly adamant he’s never gonna perform live again… One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We’re not'. He made a point of saying that all the time."

 I know this doesn't necessarily rule out Coachella, but the news isn't looking too good for a Bowie add to the line-up.  I guess we'll find out soon when the Coachella line up is released.


Update: Tony Visconti responded a few days ago on his twitter:

I never said Bowie would never perform live again.Pitchfork made that up.He won't tour for this album -- that's all I said.

The Rolling Stones to Play Coachella 2013?

So this has been the crazy rumor that's been going around even before Coachella posted an Instagram pic of The Empire Polo Fields with a polo ball that many speculated to be a stone in the shot.

So where did hoopla this come from?

Back in December of 2012, The Rolling Stones' iPhone app accidentally listed an appearance at the 2013 Coachella... but it was quickly taken down.  So the rumors began to swirl... According to the aptly titled Rolling Stone magazine "Jagger swears he doesn't know how it got there, that he had not been approached about playing at the festival." I'm guessing they were quickly approached afterwards. And now, since people want to believe, a polo ball is actually a stone... as in a Rolling Stone.

So, is The Rolling Stones playing Coachella 2013?

How the hell would I know?
The only people that have that information are the top people at Goldenvoice and The Rolling Stones themselves... and I'm pretty sure they're keeping a tight lip on it until the line-up is released, which is very, very soon. And just maybe, Goldenvoice knows exactly what they are doing, and get their kicks from teasing the public.

Update: According to LA Weekly an industry insider states that "negotiations were broken over a money dispute." Which, could still be misdirection or fake... so anyways, we'll know soon when to line finally comes out and puts all this to rest.

How Long Will It Take for Coachella 2013 to Sell Out?

With the Coachella 2013 anticipation in full swing... Rolling Stones? Daft Punk? who cares... What matters is if you'll even get a chance to buy passes to this event.

Coachella 2012 sold out under 4 hours after passes went on sale...
It's first weekend sold out in an hour.

I wonder if they'll just wait to release the line-up after the passes go on sale...

No Daft Punk at Coachella 2013?

So in the latest of Daft Punk rumors (yes, this happens every year)... it looks like they will not be headlining Coachella 2013.  In an interview with BBC Radio1 DJ Rob Da Bank by eFestivals, "We got told months ago that Daft Punk were definitely not touring next year, but it keeps the rumour mill going."

So there you have it, but still the Daft Punk rumor torch continues... Well, perhaps you could say that Coachella could be a one off... so it's not a tour. Though it would seem to be a lot of money to sink into just one show.  Anyways, I guess we'll know in a couple of weeks when the Coachella line-up is released (well, should be released).

Update: Rob Da Bank just posted this on his twitter in response:

"On the daft punk thing-I'm not their manager, agent or mate so I have no idea if they'll tour in 2013 ...or not! They may do 300 festivals!"

So there you have it again... another useless back and forth rumor.
2013 Coachella Rumors

Daft Punk, Phoenix, The Rollling Stones, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs Headlining Coachella 2013?

This is the rumor.

Though, this rumor has some substantial evidence, as SongKick (a live music alert service) accidentally emailed their subscribers alerts... in which they took to their twitter saying that this lineup was "not confirmed." It could be a great marketing device to get everyone hyped up about Coachella again, as we are nearing ticket selling season or could even be a marketing ploy by SongKick to get noticed... or could it possibly be true? You judge for yourself.  There is the alert sent below.

Though I guess only time will tell.

Goldenvoice just announced S.S. Coachella, a cruise ship to the Bahamas (December 16-19) and Jamaica (December 19 - 23), featuring artists:

Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, James Murphy, Sleigh Bells, Simian Mobile Disco, Z-Trip, !!!, Warpaint, and more... A music festival at sea.

Prices start at:
Bahamas - $750 (per person) for 2 Guests and $500 for 4 guests.
Jamaica - $900 (per person) for 2 Guests and $700 for 4 guests.

I guess it could be cool. Though Coachella isn't the first to brand their fest on a cruise ship, as HARD has their Holy Ship.
