Best Albums of 2009

I've listened to quite a few albums this year and I can honestly say that I haven't listen to all that came out, or even close to half. However, these were the albums that I listened to the most this year. And yes, a few of these came out in 2008, but I didn't get around to listening to them until this year (as there will probably be some albums that came out in 2009 that will be in my 2010 list). Anyways, here is my top 5 albums that I've listened to in 2009 (and yes, I realize all of these are fairly similar).

5) Calvin Harris - Ready for the Weekend
Calvin Harris has progressed from his 80's sounding I Created Disco album. This time including heavier beats and dance floor action. A great sophomore album

4) Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
A new band that hit it big in the past year, or er 2008 to 2009.

3) Zoot Woman - Things Are What They Used to Be
7 years in the making as producer, Stuart Price, was busy making albums for Madonna and The Killers. Things Are What They Used to Be is a fun dance-floor, electro-house album.

2) Late of the Pier - Fantasy Black Channel
A very interesting dance-punk album with a lot of energy, without being annoying. They use weird and eclectic sounds, meshed with that punk style. Very good, and great, especially when they change tempos within some of the songs... almost making it two different songs in one.

1) M83 - Saturdays = Youth
Yes, a 2008 album tops this list. I like this album, but unfortunately only got around to it well into 2009. Definitely something more calm and ambient than I normally listen to, but still good and euphoric. An album that reminds me of waking up on a beautiful morning (you know...).
