2011 Coachella Rumors

Well, Coachella 2010 is officially over... and well... it's never too early to jump on the rumor control bandwagon for the 2011 Coachella lineup. There's a pretty good guess that the music festival will be back, since it sold out all it's 75 thousand tickets this year, despite naysayers saying the lineup wasn't big enough and also limiting festival goers to only buy 3 day passes.

This could mean that Coachella won't spend as much money in the past, trying to get big name headliners such as Prince, Madonna, or Paul McCartney. Coachella's popularity over the years has grown so much, that they could probably just headline the 3 day event with bands like Vampire Weekend, The Arcade Fire, and Arctic Monkeys, and it will still sell out. So I wouldn't hope for a U2 or a Rolling Stones type of lineup. Which in turn might be better for the event itself.

Anyways here are the current rumor round-up for Coachella 2011 (and I'll update as much as possible):

The Arcade Fire
Coachella seems fitting for this band and they haven't played here in a few years. Billboard seems to confirm this.

Arctic Monkeys
Also haven't played at Coachella in a few years.

David Bowie
Of course. Coachella's wet dream. Although, getting Bowie could mean the last Coachella (because how would they top that?).

Gary Numan
Well, he couldn't make it in 2010 because of that "volcano thing" disrupting flights... So maybe Coachella will try to get him again in 2011.

Radiohead
It's about time to bring them back.

R.E.M.
Seems like a big band that Coachella hasn't gotten their hands on yet.

The Who
They had to back out of Coachella 2010. Yes, apparently that is the word on the street.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Seems like Coachella could get them and apparently some of the Heartbreakers were showed around Coachella 2010.

The Knife

Fever Ray was here in 2010 maybe she'd come back with the rest of her group.

Daft Punk
Coachella loves them and they are currently working on a Tron Legacy Tour.

Underworld
Hasn't played Coachella in a while... Although they are playing at Hard Halloween 2010...

Cut Copy
New album rolling out in January and supposed tour launch in April.

Mumford & Sons

Sounds like a Coachella band... Billboard confirms this.

PJ Harvey
Billboard also confirms this.

Crystal Castles
Had a Coachella date on their myspace page.

Phantogram
Confirmed, I guess, because their video is now on the Coachella main page?

Trentemøller
Confirmed by music video on Coachella.com

Tame Impala
Confirmed because... same as above.

The bands and groups that tend to be at Coachella are the ones that have just put out new albums. Underworld, blink 182, linkin park, pendulum, cage the elephant, smashing pumkins, system of the down, lady hawke, sound garden, social Distorction, and so many more others ether came out or will be coming out with new albums. Some are just on tour to make money for there Faberge Egg
collections. lol... New albums are clues to what to expect in 2011.
