Fast and Furious Races to the Top of the Box Office

"I live my life a quarter mile at a time." Hell yeah... Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster help bring Fast and Furious, to a huge number one spot at the box office this weekend. Taking in over $72 million, it is the biggest movie opening so far this year. It should not be a surprise since almost everyone I've talked to, wanted to see the original actors reprising their roles. Thus, breaking through all the negative reviews and naysayers who were predicting that the NCAA March Madness tournament would heavily impact moviegoers. blah! I guess this movie is review proof...

The other movie debuting this weekend, Adventureland, from the director of Superbad, which is getting good reviews, debuted in sixth place, with about $6 million.

Weekend Estimates:
Fast and Furious: $72.5 million ($72.5 million total)
Monsters vs. Aliens: $33.5 million ($105.7 million total)
The Haunting in Connecticut: $9.5 million ($37.2 million total)
Knowing: $8.1 million ($58.2 million total)
I Love You, Man: $7.9 million ($49.3 million total)

My Predictions:
Fast and Furious: $58 million
Monsters vs Aliens: $34 million
Haunting in Connecticut: $10 million
Adventureland: $9 million
Knowing: $8 million
