Activision's DJ Hero, For Wanna Be DJ's Only?

Who? What? Well, it was only a matter of time. If you don't already know by now, CEO of Activision, Bobby Kotick, has told CNBC recently:
"We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs," said Kotick. "So there's definitely some physical interface that is starting to have an impact on the consumer."
So, all you wanna be DJ's now have a chance to fulfill your superstar DJ dreams. I'm just wondering how well these hardware devices will work, and the durability factor of them. Seems like another good money making market for Activision, since almost everyone wants to DJ like they want to be a rock star (er.. guitar hero).

Now, I can unfortunately imagine DJ Hero battle-offs and actual club venues with people (wanna be DJ's) using DJ Hero to make the dance floor come alive. Ooh man... Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I can't even stand those actual Rock Band, bands. But that's another story for another time.

Who knows, Activision could actually make a worthwhile product that will entertain not only the average consumer, but the music industry as well. It could be interesting to note, however, if they make a solid controller that can actually be used with real music and DJ programs. I have actually seen someone rig up a Guitar Hero guitar as a midi controller. So we'll just have to see what the future has in store, for DJ Hero.
