Eclipse Takes 4th of July Weekend

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse easily took the top spot of the July 4th weekend, raking in about $70 million, which is about as much as it made on its first day of release on Wednesday of last week. So even though it has fallen sharply since opening day, it is still making a lot of money.

Meanwhile, M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender did pretty well (with about $40 million) considering it's getting some of the worst reviews for a movie all year and can likely be another contender for the Razzies.

Weekend Estimates:
  1. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: $69 million ($161 million total) Budget: $68 million
  2. The Last Airbender: $40.7 million ($57 million total) Budget: $150 million
  3. Toy Story 3: $30.2 million ($289 million total) Budget: $200 million
  4. Grown Ups: $18.5 million ($77.1 million total) Budget: $80 million
  5. Knight and Day: $10.2 million ($45.5 million total) Budget: $117 million

-----
Two new movies hit theaters this July 4th weekend.

The Last Airbender
Why it might be a hit: M. Night Shyamalan made a movie called The Sixth Sense a long time ago.
Why it might tank: Early reviews for this film have not been too kind. Right now it's getting worse reviews than Jonah Hex and Grown Ups.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Why it might be a hit: Girls.
Why it might tank: Mediocre reviews? Nah, that wont stop it.

My Predictions:
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse: $100 million
Toy Story 3: $40 million
The Last Airbender: $26 million
Grown Ups: $22 million
Knight and Day: $14 million
