Anyways, here's my top 10 from 2000 - 2009.

Guillermo Del Toro's best work by far, and it's not even a big budgeted Hollywood movie that we're used to seeing from him. It's a child's fantasy movie for adults, as it contrasts between her surreal world and the violent realism that she lives in.

I was expecting this movie to be long and slow. And it was... however, it's also one of those movies that captures the essence of life so well that it stays with in your brain well after it's over. Sean Penn directs a great film that has a lot to say about life.

I had to put one of these on here. Not essentially a movie that I'd watch over and over again (probably because of its length), but it's a well made, epic, adventure.

It's like watching a romantic love story while trippin' on acid and other hallucinogens thanks to director Baz Luhrmann. Very entertaining and unique film about love.

Wasn't really expecting much from this movie, then I saw it and thought it was smart, witty, cute, and visually impressive thanks, to the style of director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Audrey Tatou makes an unforgettable performance as Amélie.

A great, mind opening film about life in the favelas of Brazil. The cinéma vérité style of filmmaking creates a sense of realism that pulls you in immediately into the constuct and harsh nature of this world.

Pixar proved that they weren't all just about Toy Story. Sure there are many other great Pixar movies, but Monster's Inc. was the first release that proved they could flesh out new stories and adventures (besides Toy Story) that would help them capture an even wider audience.

In the age where comic book movies are all action and littered with wall to wall visual FX, Christopher Nolan takes it to the next level by telling a solid story with a memorable villain.

This is one of Steven Spielberg's best movies and is probably Tom Cruise's best film to date. It is smart, action packed, and slick... The story is uniquely thought-provoking and deals a lot with the ethical nature of human beings. I think it is one of the best science fiction films out there. It was actually a flip between this and my number one film.
Now, Drum Roll please....

1) The Incredibles (2004)
Yes, a Pixar movie tops the list. I think this is a very well done, witty film that pretty much encapsulates the decade of superheros. Brad Bird is a great filmmaker (Ratatouille was just outside my top 10) his screenplays are both smart and imaginative. It's a kids movie. It's an adult movie. And it has me still fantasizing about being a kid and playing a superhero.
