Final Destination Holds On

Yep, it's that time of the year where a movie like The Final Destination can remain on top of the box office for two weeks in a row with a little over $12 million. As the summer heat goes down, I guess so do the movies.

Meanwhile, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen finally broke through the $400 million mark in it's eleventh weekend.

Weekend Estimates:
The Final Destination: $12.4 million ($47.6 million total)
All About Steve: $11.2 million ($11.2 million total)
Inglourious Basterds: $10.8 million ($91 million total)
Gamer: $9 million ($9 million total)
District 9: $7 million ($101.3 million total)

-----
A few movies hit theaters this first weekend of September. I must admit, it looks about equal to the many early September releases. And that's not usually exciting.

Gamer
Why it might be a hit: Weird sci-fi gaming movie.
Why it might tank: Weird sci-fi gaming movie.

All About Steve
Why it might be a hit: Sandra Bullock's summer comedy hit pretty well.
Why it might tank: Does not look all the good.

Extract
Why it might be a hit: Mike Judge has gained cult status from Office Space.
Why it might tank: His last movie Idiocracy, pretty much went straight to DVD.

My Predictions:
Gamer: $16 million
The Final Destination: $13 million
All About Steve: $12 million
Inglourious Basterds: $11 million
Halloween 2: $9 million
