G-Force Tops Harry Potter

In an interesting turn of events, the guinea pig movie, G-Force, took the number one spot away from Hogwart's finest. What? Yes, it's true, as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince dropped over 60% this weekend. Ouch!

In other news Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has moved into the number tenth spot of the highest grossing movies in USA , surpassing Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Uh, oh.

Weekend Estimates:
G-Force: $32.2 million ($32.2 million total)
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: $30 million ($221.8 million total)
The Ugly Truth: $27 million ($27 million total)
Orphan: $12.8 million ($12.8 million total)
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: $8.2 million ($171.3 million total)
-----
Three new movies open this July weekend, as all three seems to be battling for 2nd place behind last week's Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

G-Force
Why it might be a hit: Kids and Bruckheimer...Also that Chipmunks movie raked in over $350 million worldwide.
Why it might tank: Umm yeah... A movie about talking guinea pigs?

Orphan
Why it might be a hit: No other scary flick in sight.
Why it might tank: Not really loaded with star power or visual effects, like other summer flicks.

The Ugly Truth
Why it might be a hit: Summer's other romantic comedy, The Proposal, did well and that has already been in theaters for a while.
Why it might tank: So far, it's reviews haven't been so kind.

My Predictions:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: $42 million
G-Force: $24 million
The Ugly Truth: $10 million
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: $9 million
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: $8 million
