Movie Review: Avatar

Avatar
Synopsis: Ecological sci-fi 3D action epic.
Pros: Visual Effects. 3D technology.
Cons: Videogame-like story and dialogue at times.
Overview: This is what James Cameron has being doing this past decade?... Well, the 3D technology is great. Feels like you are right there in the movie at times. Definitely a must see in 3D (I think it's in 3D theaters for a while). Also, the facial motion capture is also amazing; you feel the sense of depth within these computer created characters.

Now for the bad... there are times in the movie where it feels like a videogame cinematic, albeit a good one. The dialogue gets a little cartoonish like it's starting to delve into a younger target audience. Which, in turn, left me feeling a little weird (I just kept thinking, please don't turn into Phantom Menace, or Matrix Revolutions).

However, I think the pros outweigh the cons here, as there are definitely great scenes in this movie, and also with it's heavy political message (that's being blown way out of proportion by uptight people), it might venture into cult status. Pay the extra to see it in 3D.
3.5 out of 5
