Teen Dies at Electric Daisy Carnival Dallas

A bit of sad news to report, according to the Dallas Observer, a 15 19 year old died while attending Electric Daisy Carnival in Dallas this past weekend. even though the age limit is 18 years of age. The festival had other problems: as many as 30 people were hospitalized due to alcohol intoxication and dehydration especially since temperatures in Dallas was extremely high... and a fire alarm had been pulled, cutting the festival off 20 minutes earlier than it's original 2 am end time.

Update: WFAA now reports that the deceased was 19-year-old Andrew Graf of Argyle.

Insomniac CEO and founder Pasquale Rotella released a statement following these events:

"Our condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the family and friends of the man who passed away tonight. To go from a moment of happiness and enjoyment, to the loss of life, is very heartbreaking. We would like to ask everyone to keep the concertgoer and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Along with the independent local promoters in Dallas, we will work with the authorities to understand how this tragedy occurred."

This bit of news does not bode well for future Electric Daisy Carnival events, since it's promoter Insomniac, is already under fire since the death of a 15 year old at last year's EDC in Los Angeles. After stringent pressure from Los Angeles officials, that EDC has since moved to Las Vegas (which debuts this weekend), and is no doubt going under further scrutiny in the wake of EDC Dallas.

In fact commissioner Steve Sisolak told Vegas' ABC 13:

"As a result of what happened in Dallas. It's going to cause a reevaluation of all the policies and procedures that were anticipated coming to Las Vegas ... Anytime you bring a hundred to a hundred fifty thousand people in it's going have an economic impact, but there's no economic impact that offsets the loss of a life."

So if you are headed to Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas be safe, as Vegas temperatures will also be hot.
