Netflix Review: The Taking of Pelham 123

The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)
Synopsis: A group of bad guys led by John Travolta, take over subway train Pelham 123, while MTA employee (Denzel Washington) finds himself in the middle of hostage negotiations.
Pros: John Travolta as a bad guy.
Cons: Over-stylistic, forced plot points.
Overview: Denzel Washington always delivers a solid performance. However, it is John Travolta as a bad guy that makes this movie watchable. As for director Tony Scott's decision to use whip pan transitions and quick it editing; well, it totally detracts from the overall film. There is also one, almost useless, action sequence, that involves a money car that happens to crash into a lot of NYC cars while enroute (This barely has anything to do with the rest of the film!). I also have not yet seen the original film this was based on, so I can't compare the two.
