Movie Review: Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, as so it is called, is Tim Burton's latest offering. And of course, it is cast with his favorite stars, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. Before the movie even starts, there is a R rating warning, for "bloody graphic violence," or something like that. So that should give you a hint to where this movie is headed. However, Sweeney Todd is a musical, adapted from the stage, which appeared some years ago. And, yes, this entire movie feels like you are watching a play. So I guess if you are huge on musicals then you might like this movie. I mean, I am not the hugest fan of the theater, so you know I might be subtracting some points already. What I did like abou this film is that it is well shot, the look has Tim Burton all over it, and it does have a ridiculous amout of blood in the film (a rather gory bit for a musical don't you think?). Overall, I thought it was ok. I got bored in parts, but in the end, the movie holds up.
