Movie Review: The Hoax

The Hoax is a movie based around the true events of author Clifford Irving's fictitious autobiography of Howard Hughes. Richard Gere plays the American novelist and Alfred Molina plays his associate partner.
Honestly, after watching this film I was like "eeh." It wasn't bad, but it also didn't really captivate me either. However, Richard Gere was great in the part. No wrong move there. I just thought the movie moved a bit too slow for my taste, and nothing really distinct happened in the middle for me to really get into.
When I was watching it, I was thinking of the movie Shattered Glass, which deals with a similar topic. I think that is a better movie. I also couldn't help but think of Scorcese's Hughes biopic Aviator. It brings to life the depth of character and story behind the iconic Howard Hughes. The Hoax, really didn't get that far interesting or complex as it could have been knowing all this I've seen with the Aviator. Yes, I know The Hoax isn't a Hughes biopic. So don't flame me. There were good plot points, but just not enough to make me really liking this film a lot. However, on the plus side, my logo is tagged onto the front of this film. yay.
